Elegant vintage Spode Archive Collection dinner plate featuring the Victorian Series “Byron Groups” pattern in a rich cranberry red.
The design centers on a beautifully detailed bouquet of roses and mixed flowers, surrounded by an elaborate scrolling foliate border with a finely patterned ground. Based on a Spode design first introduced circa 1835, the pattern was reproduced as an underglaze print from a hand-engraved copper plate, preserving the intricate character of traditional English transferware.
The combination of the open ivory center, abundant florals, and ornate cranberry border makes this an especially lovely pattern for a collected table. Mix it with ironstone, creamware, floral china, and other red or mulberry transferware, or display it among a collection of English pottery.
