The Bluebird Table Welcomes July
A few thoughts from the garden, around the table, and from the kitchen.
There is something about July that asks us to slow down. Supper drifts onto the porch, fresh herbs find their way into pitchers and favorite dishes, and the table is set not to impress, but simply because sharing a meal feels worth celebrating.

The most beautiful summer rituals don’t involve perfectly matched place settings. They’re collected over time—an ironstone platter beside blue-and-white plates, a handful of vintage goblets catching the evening light, linen napkins softened by years of use, flowers clipped from the garden tucked into a favorite vase, and handfuls of rosemary and thyme gathered into an old crock on the windowsill. These are the pieces that become part of family stories.
At Bluebird Vintage Manor, I believe vintage isn’t meant to stay tucked safely in a cabinet. It’s meant to hold peaches from the market, slices of berry pie, fresh flowers from the garden, and memories made one simple meal at a time.
This month, one of our favorite summer meals is grilled chicken served with whatever the season is offering—sweet corn, garden tomatoes, fresh herbs, and crusty bread shared around the table. The marinade couldn’t be simpler, and it’s one we come back to all summer long.

One of my favorite ways to serve it is sliced on a grilled French baguette with fresh tomato (or roasted red peppers), basil, fresh mozzarella, arugula, a drizzle of olive oil, a touch of balsamic glaze, and a sprinkle of salt and freshly cracked black pepper. It’s simple, fresh, and tastes like summer.
Because the best tables aren’t the ones saved for someday. They’re the ones that gather the people we love today.
